Windows FAT32 limitations

January 27th, 2009

Like most people I blindlessly drag and drop files across the network, but the other day I tried to copy a large file onto a removable drive that was 140GB and Windows came up with a warning that they is not enough space. The file of was trying to copy was 6GB. It took me a will to remember that FAT32 can only handle 4GB. You would think that Windows would just come up and tell you that FAT32 can't files this large.

I found an article in WIKI that explains this.
