Using Images On Your Website

For this section I will be using GIMP PORTABLE (Image editor)

One of the main tricks when placing images on your website is to make sure you have resized the image to the actual size you want. This means that if the original image size is say 1000 x 1200 pixels (250Kb) using GIMP open the image and click on IMAGE then SCALE IMAGE and reduce this to say about 400 x 600 pixels. The reason you resize before you using the image to your website is that the 1000x 1200 pixel image is still (250kb) and when resized on the webpage editor it will still be (250Kb) in size and the dimensions may have changes, but the physical size will not. Resizing this image in GIMP will reduce not only the dimensions, but physical  Kb size as well.

Recap: ( Video example of  Resizing a image using GIMP)

Orginal image

1000 x 1200 = (250Kb)

Resized in GIMP

400 x 600 = (50Kb)

Make the image quicker to load when people open your website.
